While I didn’t dress up for Halloween this year, I did manage to get in on a little bit of the fun. Thingiverse put on their 2017 Costume Contest and I figured I’d give it a go. After all, winner got a new Makerbot which sounded pretty cool to me.
While I didn’t win, I still had a ton of fun making this 3d printed skeleton hand / arm that you control with your real arm. Check it out over at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2616236 and feel free to print out and assemble your very own. The project was mostly designed in MODO and took quite a few test prints to get the proportions and armature to work correctly. After being printed and assembled, I gave it a grungy paint job to give it that Halloween look. Maybe I’ll turn it into a full costume next year.
